Notes for Helen Cockburn
She was left a sum in his will by Wm Cockburn MD, her cousin. He wrote his will on 4 Dec 1738 so that she would have been alive then and therefore died after that. Though to have survived some thirty-one years after her husband’s death is quite good going. See Westminster Abbey burials register, p. 353, Note (1) - and thanks to Susan Watkins for this info.
In GEC’s Complete baronetage for her dau, Helen wife of the 2nd Gilbert Elliot, bt, it says that she was the dau. of Alexander Cockburn. Hoever this does not tie in with other soruces, so I have left her as the dau. of Archibald.
