Notes for Pernel
CP says (XII/2, p.55, note (b) ) that Pernel was very likely Pernel de Cumbrai and that she was the daughter on one Roger de Cumbrai and the heir, with her sister Agnes, of John de Cumbrai.

Keats-Rohan in her Domesday Descendants, p. 424, says thatAluredus de Cumbrai may be the chap who had sons Roger and John and possibly also a daughter who married Simon Tuchet.

Ormerod in his Cheshire, Vol II, p. 662, is convinced a Tuchet heriess was a de Cumbrai but does not agree with CP on which Tuchet she married and in any case calls her Alice.
