Notes for Mary Elizabeth Brown
She was only known originally from a list of William Trotter's children, possibly in his hand. He only gave her death as 1839 but as he also gave her as the second daughter, after Harriet Amelia who was born in 1837 (from 1881 census), so Mary E must have been born around 1838. QED.
This short life has been confirmed in her mother’s bible entries.
Apr 2008, TFPL: Her death certificate clearly says she died on 30th Jan, 1840, aged 2 years, 7 months, was a ‘Merchant’s child’, died of ‘inflammation of the ???? hip’, the informant was William Brown of Wimbledon, father, in attendance [at death] and that the death was registered on 3rd February 1840.
This last confirms her mother’s record, though not her father’s.
Her uncle Henry Brown buried her.
