Notes for Eleanor Georgina Brown
She was known originally only from a list of Wm's children, probably in his hand, which listed her as the seventh and last daughter and who died in 1856.  Her immediately elder sister Adela Maria was born around 1853 (1881 census) so Eleanor G was born anything from 1854 to 1856; I have put this as "ca 1855".

Her mother’s list in her bible confirms Eleanor’s short life and gives exact dates which I have duly entered.

No birth records found on FreeBMD.

But a death record has been found, though it is illegible on FreeBMD!  Similarly on FindMyPast (1837 online).  Both these had black & While only images.  The Genealogist has a greyscale image and this shows the district as definitely Sevenoaks, the volume as, possibly, 23a and similarly the page number as a possible 381

Later in Apr, 2008, TFPL: The GRO has found the right death certificate and corrected the above references to Vol 2A, and page 239.  Good for them!

On her death certificate, she died at Penshurst, and was 1 year old (correct), being the dau. of William Brown, annuitant; her death was from pertussis for 23 days and the following for 5 days: Bronchities, Pneumonia and Pericarditis, all certified [by a doctor presumably].  The informant on 8th March 1856 was Ann Cottle who was present at the death and living in Penshurst.  (A pity that the addresses were not more precisely given.)

Her baptism has also been found.  The parents were down as William and Mary Elizabeth, surnamed Brown, with him as a merchant.

But there was no sign of her burial in 1856 or 1857.
