Notes for Elizabeth Thompson
According to James Backhouse in his “Family Memoirs”, after her husband’s early death (but not early in Harold Atkinson’s book), she ran a boarding school first in Wakefield and then in Pontefract.  She died, he wrote, in 1771 and was buried in the Friends grave in Braithwaite.

May, 2006, TFPL: I have been informed reliably that Elizabeth’s parents were not the John Thompson and Elizabeth (N.N.) given in Atkinson’s “Atkinsons of Roxby & Dearman of Braithwaite”.  I await the denouement with the correct parents with bated breath.  Meanwhile John Thompson and Elizabeth have gone to that electronic genealogical resting place in the ether.

February 2007, TFPL: Chris Pitt Lewis has passed on to me his Beta article on Elizabeth’s ancestry following long research of his amonst the Monthly Meeting reports.  It is to be published in the Quaker Connections Journal later this year and I will then add the details, and the references, to this database. In the meantime they are flagged at Drop From GED so that they do not appear on any updates that I make before publication.
