Feudal baron (2nd class) of Tamworth, Notts, though he lost this for the latter part of his life, yet restored to his son.  At one stage his junior half-brother, Robert (V), had tried to buy the barony off him for £500.

CP VIII, p. 510, noye (f): in two charters of the abbey of Fontenay he is described as nephew ("nepos" more likely = grandson) of William de Beauchamp.
