In CP XIV p. 282, correcting the Dunbar article in CP IV, p. 506, it is suggestd that John and Ada probably also had a daughter Eupheme who m. Patrick earl of Dunbar, d. 1248.
The same correction in Vol XIV states that Ada was "dau. of Hugh de Baliol of Barnard Castle (and sister of John de Baliol" with a reference to an article by Andrew B W MacEwan in the Genealogist vol 9 of 1988 pp. 231-6.

Arms Generally notes for John FitzRobert
I wonder if his, or perhaps his father’s arms, were derived from Vere as his paternal grandmother was a Vere? This would explain the quarterly construct and with a bend instead of a star.
Meantime we do not know what tinctures were used. A hundred years later, his male line descendants used:
Quarterly or and gules, a bend sable.
So I’ll go for that!
