Might he have been the Sir John Hampden who was a knight in the queen’s retinue at the Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520?
Might he also have been the the Sir John Hampden in the VCH for Bucks, vol 2, pp. 287-291, who died in 1553 and left two daughters as heiresses but left the manor of Great hampden to his cousin, another John Hampden, who was son of William Hanpden of Dunton?
