Notes for Sydney Whitmore Hamilton
From him a line of de Courcy Hamilton cousins descend to this day (Aug 2000).
In the 1901 census he was living (staying more likely) with his parents at Dunboyne, Prestbury, Cheltenham. Glos, aged 34, born in Malta and a Station Manager in New South Wales.
In the 1871 census he was aged 4, born in Malta and living with his mother at 48 Devonshire St, London.
(But Francis Hamilton reports (in 2012) that he was born in Cheltenham in 1866; His marriage certificate corroborates the censuses so have retained Malta.)
In WW1 there is a TNA medal record ref WO/372/8 Image Ref 40530 for a Sidney de C. Hamilton who worked for the St John's Brigade and received the British Victory Star. Probably him, though I'm surprised he was not fighting with his father's record. Francis H explains that he had some disability, as yet unknown (might be revealed in the 1921 census).
________________
At his marriage he was 35, a bachelor, born in Malta and a Station Manager living at Barnato, Cobar.
