Notes for Edward Hailstone
The Times has a death of an Edward Hailstone on Walton Hall, Wakefield, Yorks on 24th March 1890. Might this have been him?
The subsequent obituary on the 4th April has him as a solicitor in Bradford, and law Clerk to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Sounds like he would have been well known to the Busfeilds. He was also an antiquarian, being FSA. But it makes no mention of any marriage or family.
In the 1881 census he was married but living on his own with five servants. Aged 65, b. in Bradford, York:

From John James’ History of Bradford on Samuel Hailston of Horton Hall, p. 318:
He married, in the year 1808, Ann, the daughter of Mr Thomas Jones, a surgeon, in a large practice at bradford. She dies in 1833, at the age of 53. Mr Hailstone died at Horton Hall, on the 26th day of Deecember, 1851, and rests by his wife at Boston Spa. He left behind him two sons, the Rev John Hailstone, formerly vicar of Bottisham, Cambridgeshire, but now of Anglesea Abbey, in that County, and Edward Hailstone, Esq, F.S.A., of Horton Hall.
