There is a ‘James Powis’ birth registered in FreeBMD in Q2 of 1840; it could possibly be him.

In the 1851 census the birthplace for him and his siblings was given as St George Hanover Square, Middlesex.

In the 1871 census he was a captain with the 69th Regiment of Foot, aged 30 and unmarried.  See his mother’s Notes for details.

In 1881, he was a Lt-Col of the 69th regiment in Gate Fulford, East Yorks.  Amy not found.

No children found for any search and in 1911 Amy reported that she had had none.
