In “Church Heraldry of Norfolk” by Rev Edmund Farrer, pub Goose & Co in 1887, p. 388:

“WITTON
. . . .
Tablets on the North Wall of the Church, with coloured shields.

“I. Quarterly, argent and gules, in the second and third quarters a fret or; over all a fesse azure,  Norris;  impaling Or, a checron sable between three murrs proper, Carthew.
. . . . .
There is a helmet, but no crest
. . . . .
“For John Norris of Great Witchingham, co. Norfolk, Esq., who married Anna eldest daughter of Thomas Carthew of Benacre, Suffolk, Esq, by Sarah his first wife.  He died October 9th 1734, aged 23, Anna his wife died September 8th, 1767, aged 55.
.  . . . .
“II. Norris, impaling, Bendy wavy of six argent and azure, Playters.
“For Elizabeth, wife of John Norris, Esq., only daughter of John Playters, Esq., of Yelverton, who left this world December 1st 1769, in her 28th year.  John Norris her husband left this world January 5th 1777, aged 43.”

“III. Sable, a chevron or, guttee de sand, between three cinquefoils argent, (Wodehouse of Kimberley).  The cinquefoils should be ermine.)

“IV. Norris
In memory of Charlotte Laura, wife of John, second Baron Wodehouse, only daughter and heiress of John Norris, Esq., of Great Witchingham, who died June 24th 1845.”

Here lieth the Body of JOHN NORRIS
of G Withingham in the County of Norfolk Esqr
He married Anna
Eldest Daughter of Thomas Carthew of Banacre in Suffolk by Sarah, the first wife, and died at the Age of 23 October 9th 1734
Leaving two Infants John and Anne and his aforesaid Wife
who, in testimony of his virtues & the endearment of his Memorie
to her faithful Heart,
hath placed this Marble

Here also is Interred
the body of ANNA, his Wife, who died
Septbr 8th 1767,
Aged 55.
Surviving him and in the unaltered state of Widowhood
32 Years 11 Months
a woman of excellent Sense, Strict of Principle& fervent Piety
the first made he Entertaining, the second Valuable & the last
assiduous that the honour of God should be dearer to herself
than others
She forbad her Son to erect any direct Monument to her Menu
otherwise the expression of his exceeding obligations to her
as a Parent,
a Guardian,
and a Friend
Should no have been thus contracted.
