Could very well be him, but not sure. According to Alumni Oxoniensis, this is the Ed Phil whose father was Henry Cooper of Hapsden, Oxford, so is the wrong person. I think most of the details for him are wrong too - sounds like I’ve got to look up Crockfords and a few other items at the Soc of Gens.
In 1861 he was a widower living in a hotel in Tonbridge, Kent, as was his brother Henry Gisborne.
No sign of him in the 1871 census, confirming the 1864 death.
