Notes for Elizabeth Shaa
The 1612 Essex visit'n for Poyntz says that Edmund Shawe, mayor of London in 1483, was her brother.
Nov 2006: This visitation entry is quoted by Maclean in his pedigree on p. 48 yet he insists in the next sentence that she was Edmund’s daughter. In the main text on p. 32 he refers to some marriage settlements, as yet unrevealed to mankind.
However neither the new Oxford DNB nor Tony Ingram’s researches give Elizabeth as Edmund’s daughter and I think the time has come to move her to her supposed rightful position as Edmund’s sister.
