The 1623 Glos visitation, p. 129, had this to justify the assertion of her marriage:
“A testimony of this match apereth by indenture of covenant of the mariag yett extant under the hand and seale of the said Erle, by letters wrtten by the hand of the reverend ffather Morton Cadinall, also by arms of the Erle impaled wth Poyntz on top of a Chappell near Bristowe where they lye buried.”
Bodine and Spalding in their “Ancestry of Dorothea Poyntz” give her the surname of Woodville.
