Notes for Sir James (or Charles) Carmichael
In RCLPL's tree.

In Tree of the 30th Carmichael of Carmichael.

In Douglas' Scots Peerage for his father in law, Hugh Campbell, he is recorded as marrying the daughter Marion.

In Burke's extinct Peers:
"Gavin Carmichael, of Hyndford, of which he ad a charter in 1547.  His son,
"James Carmichael, of Hyndford, m. Marian Campbell, dau of Sir Hugh Campbell, of Loudon, by Lady Elizabeth Stewart, dau. of Matthew, Earl of Lennox, and great-grand-dau of James II., King of Scotlnad, and Queen mayr of Gueldres. By her he had, with other issue, as son,
"Walter Carmichael of Hyndford, who d. in 1616. ..." [wrong date...]

In Scot's Peers, Vol IV, p. 582, they say his real name was Charles, he was wrongly styled James and that he may have married a daughter of Chrichton 'of Saurie'.
