Notes for Emily Harford Hallifax
In the 1861 census she was aged 13 and with her mother and siblings at Portsea, Hants.
In the 1871 census she was a niece staying with Catharine C Evans, born Catherine Charlotte Hallifax, a recently widowed wife of a clergyman in the Rectory, Kingsland, Leominster, Shropshire.
In Q2 of 1943 an Emily Hallifax was registered born at Hastings, vol 7, p. 433 - coincidence? I have no other record of an Emily Hallifax with two ‘l’s.
At her death, her husband George was a Capt with the 40th Regt.
The India office record of her burial states that she died of ‘General debility’ and was aged 28. More noteworthy is that she died within a couple of months after the birth of her son.
