Notes for Catherine Cooke
She is referred to in the will of her son Dr Robert Hallifax as still being alive, hence she died after 1810.  However Benjamin Bather, a Hallifax descendant, has found a report that she was in St Albans after 1810 and died in 1825.  Her will is published (PCC).

In July 2015 Benjamin Bather found a frustrating snippet which is probably half right and half wrong:

I quote "From 1813 to 1831 St Albans was inhabited by Miss Caroline Hallifax, Winifred Graham noted that a window pane at St Albans had been inscribed, and dated 1818, by Caroline Halifax (sic) whom she declared to be a relation of Lord Halifax, Ranger of Bushey Park. This window pane was not seen in the house prior to its demolition. The connection of Miss Hallifax with Lord Halifax seems unlikely, but nothing is known about her." 25
