Notes for Robert Hallifax
On MH's Hallifax pedigree she wrote a date of 1696, possibly the date of his birth.
This confirms the reported (Worthies of Barnsley, p. 167) inscription in Chesterfield church:
"To parents, of the greatest worth, Robert and Hannah Hallifax, who having fulfilled all human duties faithfully, and properly, migrated (departed) from this life. He, A.D., 1759, aged 63. She A.D., 1787, aged 78. This monument, their dearest son, Robert Hallifax, physician to the Prince of Wales, desired to erect in testimony of his love and affection, in 1796."
However the LDS Vital Records shows a 1703 date for the marriage of his parents. Time to get at the parish registers, then? No, the 1703 marriage was that of his (presumed) paternal grandparents.

Mar 2006: This, from Peter O’Donoghue, Bluemantle Pursuivant, almost certainly refers to this Robert but I am not sure of the precise connection to John Hallifax:
“A Grant of Arms to John Hallifax of Kenilworth, co. Warwick, eldest surviving son of John Hallifax and grandson of Thomas Hallifax both of Springthorpe, co. Lincoln deceased, by Letters Patent dated 11 December 1788. The limitations of the grant were extended to include the descendants of his grandfather, and of his late cousin Robert Hallifax of Mansfield, co. Nottingham deceased. [Coll Arm Ms Grants 17/49]”
