From Mark Noble's "Memoirs of the persons and families who by females are allied to or descended from the protectorate-House of Cromwell" pub in 1784:
"Sir William was a member for Maldon, in the county of Essex, in the parlement called by king James I in 162, and was returned twice for the same place in 1625, and for Colchester in 1640, in this parlement, called the long, from the length of its duration, he much distinguished himself by his warmth against the arbitrary ... [yet to be photocopied...]"
From the 1612 visit'n his father was Wm Marsham of Essex and his mother was a "daugh. to Carlton she was afterwarde the lady Castylione".
