Notes for Euphemia FitzRoger
The College of Arms has Euphemia the dau. and heir of John FitzRobert, Lord of Clavering. This is false. She was not the heir of any of this family, nor was she the dau of this John. She was (Leo van de Pas, CP, etc) the dau. of Robert FitzRoger, the father of John FitzRobert. She had brothers, John who had but one dau Eve, dspl, and, after a few more dsp brothers, Alan whose descendants lived for many generations if not to the present day.
However, by a legal device, Euphemia's brother John managed to dispossess both his dau. Eve and his youngest brother Alan and then left a large chunk of his estates to Euphemia's husband Randolf de Neville, thereby making Euphemia a cash heiress if not a genetic one...
