TFPL, Aug 2014: In a list of High Sheriffs of Oxfordshire, there is for 1641 one Thomas Tipping, though he would have been a mere 25 then and thus a bit young. There was also a non-knight Thomas, son of Bartholomew who was fifteen or so years older and might more easily have been the Sheriff.

Quarterly, 1 and 4 on a bend engrailed, three pheons (arrowheads pointing down) of the field, 2 & 3, 2 chevronels gobony (untinctured in visitation).
Crest: Out of a ducal coronet, a griffin's head couped (untinctured).
In Lipscomb's Bucks:
Arms: Or, on a bend azure, three Pheons of the Field
Crest: A sea horse's head or, maned sable issuant from a mural crown.
RCLP-L reports them as: Or on a bend engrailed vert three pheons of the field
