Martin P-L writes:
This branch of the family ramified over Ludlow and the surrounding districts, particularly in the eighteenth century.
They disappeared in the nineteenth, when there was an economic decline in the area.
Edward was a farmer, and must have have inherited a good deal of wealth as residuary legatee of his mother, widow of both WILLIAM and Richard Padlonde. Yet the value of his estate when he died was only £165; 7; 2, all of which he left nuncupatively (orally) to Elinor his wife. The ref. for his will is HRO/AA/20/1631; and for hers (which I have not read) PRO Prob.11/216 1643 fo.94.
We do not know the exact date of his birth, only the birth date of his eldest child, but he was older than THOMAS of SNITTON, who was born about 1560.
Edward appears on an Exchequer Deposition (ie. a written statement for some civil suit) in years 41-42 of Elizabeth's reign, Michaelmas 30, vol.1, Gp.2, p.23. I have not consulted this.
In 1586 he was a churchwarden.

TFPL, Nov 2017:
He was probably the Edward Powis who was bailiff of Ludlow in 1594 and 1600:
In these years of the reign of Elizabeth:
“36. William Woogan, Edward Powis ... ... 1594
42. Edward Powis, Willm Hughes ... ... 1600
Edward Powis, Thomas Powle ... ... 1610”

Shropshire Archives has a quitclaim XD3614/5/1/32 of 24 Nov 1611 in which Edward and Elianor his wife quitclaim all rights to a messuage. So Edward lived at least until 1611.
