Notes for Edith Mary Powys
She died only 8 days after her brother, having been there at his death and at the funeral; sounds like she caught his bug.  Buried in the family vault at Whitchurch.

She was the residual beneficiary of her brother William if his wife and all children pre-deceased him.  She attended and was a witness to his wedding to Sarah Bartholomew in Boulogne.

In 1881 I cannot find her in the census!  She had married a few months ago and was in early pregnancy at that time.  I just wonder if she had gone over to Boulogne to visit her brother and his new wife?

TFPL, May 2001: The answer is almost certainly in the place of birth of her first child, Philip Geoffry Powys Hill, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, USA in Nov 1881.  So in the c.April 1881 census she would have been in the US of A.

TFPL, Feb 2009: Doubtless she would have met Alfred Hill as her aunt Sophia Jane Powys’ brother-in-law Arthur Philip took over the Britford vicarage from Alfred’s father when he died in 1868.

On middle row on west side of Vault, in the churchyard:
  Edith Mary Hill
  Born October 21st 1853 Died April 12th 1888
Notes for Alfred Biscoe & Edith Mary (Family)
This marriage was first found from EAP Powys' notebook.

The Essex Standard states that the marriage was at St Stephen’s church and was by Rev Canon [Charles Humphrey] Hill and Rev Charles Powys.

ON Fri 3rd December 1880, The Western Daily Press included this notice on page 8:

“MARRIAGES:  HILL--POWYS-LYBBE--Nov 30, at St Stephen’s Church, Bath, Alfred Biscoe Hill, seventh son of the late Rev Richard Humphry Hill, vicar of Britford, Salisbury, to Edith Mary, second daughter of Philip Lybbe Powys-Lybbe, of Hardwick, Oxon, Esq.”

Note that this is the only instance in which her name was given as ‘Powys-Lybbe’.  I wonder who composed this notice?

Further her brother William did not change his name to P-L until 4th July 1882.
