Keats-Rowan says he was probably a young man in 1086 and had sons Nicholas, Robert, possibly Baldwin and daus Cecilia and another who was a nun at Shaftesbury.
Smyth, Lives of the Berkeleys p. 59, implies that he died fifty years before his son did, that is in 1120. And on p. 64, that he died shortly before his grandson Maurice was born, which was c. 1120. |
