This started with a talk given at an AGM of the Federation for Medieval Genealogy.
Graham Dalton told us how it was possible to give cast iron lines of descent from
known medieval people to people living today for whom the intervening generations were unknown.
So I got to work to see if there was any mileage in it for The Powyses and Powises of this universe.
Currently 4 years have passed . There have been some successful findings and some that have got nowhere.
Here's the significant parts:
- The Introduction: My path for the future, at the beginning as written originally in 2020,
- A few failed lines: no clear links found from any Powis to any Powys, though we were all western European,
- The Powys descendants of Liverpool, sons of John Powys of Swansea,
- The Norwegian connection, and Mr Powys of England,
- Ian Powys and I were found to have the same Y-DNA: the possibilities open up,
- The importance of verification, William Powys joined the investigations,
- The identification of the Most Recent Common Ancestor: this need painstaking genealogy to establish,ed
- My evolving methodology
- What might be done next?
