Notes for Sir Robert de Reydon
m. (1) Alice, (2) Margery. It is not certain that he was the son of William de Reydon but he did inherit the estates of his uncle (Sir) Robert. He is to be found on a pedigree of 1620 signed by William Segar, Garter, William Camden, Clarenceux and Ri St George, Norroy. This was prepared for the Twysdens but the research by E B Royden in his Three Roydon Families, pub 1923, supplants this pedigree. He had an IPM: Cal Inq p.m. vi. 247. and as he held nothing of the king, nothing was done: Cal. Close R. 1323-27, p. 1 He held wide estates around South Suffolk: The manor of Raydon, Demesne lands at: Raydon, Vrent Wenham, Hadleigh, Holton, Stratton, Layham, Hintlesham, Wherstead, Freston, Wolferston, Badingham and Framilngham all in Suffolk, Ramsey and Wrabness in Essex Nowthorp in Norfolk Figheldean and Alton in Wilts.
