In 1861 census Micahel and his wife were both born in Ireland and they now had 4 children and lived at 56, Derby Street, Macclesfield, Cheshire:

Michael Moran and Bridgett Varley look like they married around 1850, from the birth year of their eldest child. But no record can be found of this in either English or Irish records.

Starting again…
The 1871 census in fact has clearly the same family at Navigation Road, Burslem, Wolstanton, Staffordshire:
First name(s) Last name Relationship Marital status Sex Age Birth year Occupation Birth place
Michael Moran Head M M 39 1832 House Painter Ireland
Bridgett Moran Wife M F 32 1839 - Ireland

=====================================================================
Mistaken identification of the family in 1871:
In 1871 there is a differ family in Macclesfield though the parents had the same names. The oddest feature is the daughter Ann born in 1858 so should have been on the 1861 census, but wasn’t. Further the birth dates of the parents have changed by two or three years. I am not convinced that this family in 1871, and now at at Back of Watercotes Yard, Macclesfield, Cheshire, is the same as that above in 1861:
First name(s) Last name Relationship Marital status Sex Age Birth year Occupation Birth place
Michael Moran Head - M 40 1831 Labourer Ireland
Bridget Moran Wife - F 38 1833 - Ireland
Ann Moran Daur - F 13 1858 - Macclesfield, Cheshire
Mary Moran Daur - F 6 1865 - Macclesfield, Cheshire

They had four children at the time of the 1861 census:
Mary Ann Moran Daur - F 10 1851 Scholar Macclesfield, Cheshire
John Moran Son - M 8 1853 Scholar Macclesfield, Cheshire
Martin Moran Son - M 4 1857 Scholar Macclesfield, Cheshire
Michael Moran Son - M 1 1860 - Macclesfield, Cheshire
And in 1871 they had a further 2, with the previous four either left home or deceased:
Ann Moran Daur - F 13 1858 - Macclesfield, Cheshire
Mary Moran Daur - F 6 1865 - Macclesfield, Cheshire
The registered Moran births from a couple of years before Mary Ann’s and over the twenty years from that, born in England and with mother’s maiden name of Varley:
Last name First name(s) Year Of Birth Location
Moran Margaret 1855 Macclesfield, Cheshire
Moran Martin 1857 Macclesfield, Cheshire
Moran Michael 1860 Macclesfield, Cheshire
Moran Michael 1863 West Bromwich, Staffordshire
Moran James 1864 Wolstanton, Staffordshire
Moran Juliana 1866 York, Yorkshire
This does not square up, apart from the birth of their sons Martin and Michael.
There may have been two Moran-Varley families of course.
No baptisms found for that period.
End of mistaken identification of the family in 1871,
=======================================================================
In 1881 they were still at 34, Navigation Road, Burslem, Wolstanton, Staffordshire
First name(s) Last name Relationship Marital status Sex Age Birth year Occupation Birth place
Michael Moran Head M M 48 1833 House painter Ireland
Bridget Moran Wife M F 50 1831 - Macclesfield, Cheshire
Martin Moran Son S M 24 1857 Paper hanger unemployed Macclesfield, Cheshire

Combined: 1881 ref: RG12, piece 2715, folio 7, p. 7
Note that Bridget was now reported to be Macclesfield born.
Margaret may have been seconded to them, possibly to assist. As she was a Moran, it could be that John was her father.

In 1891 he and Bridget were both still alive and active and remaining at Navigation Road, Burslem Cobridge, Wolstanton, Staffordshire:

At the end of these four real censuses, their children are, by census:
Birth
Census Child Yr Qtr Location
1861 Mary Ann Moran Daur - F 10 1851 Scholar Macclesfield, Cheshire
1861 John Moran Son - M 8 1853 Scholar Macclesfield, Cheshire
1861 Martin Moran Son - M 4 1857 Scholar Macclesfield, Cheshire
1861 Michael Moran Son - M 1 1860 - Macclesfield, Cheshire
Their GRO birth records are:
Name: Mother's Maiden Surname:
MORAN, MARY ANNE FARLEY
GRO Reference: 1851 S Quarter in MACCLESFIELD UNION Volume 19 Page 132
MORAN, JOHN PARLEY
GRO Reference: 1853 J Quarter in MACCLESFIELD Volume 08A Page 149

GRO Reference: 1857 J Quarter in MACCLESFIELD Volume 08A Page 133
MORAN, MICHAEL VARLEY
GRO Reference: 1860 M Quarter in MACCLESFIELD Volume 08A Page 133
Note the manifold spellings of their mother’s maiden name.
Additionally a birth appears that is not in the census:
Name: Mother's Maiden Surname:
MORAN, JANE ANN VARLEY
GRO Reference: 1870 M Quarter in CHESTERFIELD IN THE COUNTY OF DERBY Volume 07B Page 566
In the 1871 census there was a Jane Moran of Lanarkshire, Scotland, and of Auckland, Co Durham, of Newcastle upon Tyne, and of Lancashire. I am going to ignore this birth.
