Notes for John S Murray
At marriage, in 1954, to a 44-year old he could have been anywhere from 30 to 70 years old (at a stab). This would indicate a birth in any year between 1884 and 1924. So I searched for a man with his forename and initial and surname. There were eight such people and I could not identify which was him without paying for a marriage certificate to show, additionally, his age at marriage and his father’s name. In view of the lack of of any children, I am not spending this money. (skinflint, I know: family trait.)

Now for something rather different:
Two considerations: first her will is being ordered to see if she was a widow or not and if she wasn’t where they were living at that time.
She died in Norfolk. Using the assumption that she would not have moved far if he had died first, he might ha ve stayed in Norfolk. So I asked FindMyPast to search for all John S Murray deaths within 50 miles of Norfolk and within 40 years of their marriage, casting the net fairly wide. This brought up precisely one J.S.Murrary:
John Somerset Murray, born 1904, died at East Dereham district, Norfolk in 1992.
His will said he was of Oak Manor, Scarning, Norfolk, died on 19 Oct 1992 and left £100,000.
A check was to make the search for 80 years after their marriage. This brought in three more J S Murrays so the total list is:
