Pinned to her marriage register entry page is a document from Messrs Clark, Woodcock and Ryland, solicitors of 11 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, WC, London:

“Reverend Sir

Countess de Broc deceased
_________________________

We want a certificate of the marriahe of Mr George Ryland Minshall with Louisa Aufrere which took place on the 4th August 1798 and we think it probably that you may have an entry of it in your church register.
Will you be kind enough to oblige us by searching tomorrow & if you find it send us a certificate?
We are
Yours faithfully
   Clark & Co

The Recton of Hoveton
Hoveton
Norfolk”

Obviously some relative or descendant, and if the lasstere, then a Powys descendant and needs to be delved into further.

I am currently wondering if the Aufreres were french refugees, though they must have come over before c. 1700.

On Saturday November 19th 1836 The Times reported that “the ordinary domicile of the Countess de Bruc weas at Versailles.”

In the Times of 1 November 1851 it said that the Countess de Broc had been buried an a rebuilt church to hold various members of the Bonapart family.
