Name HENRY SHEARER TAYLOR
Aaction for which recommended
On 27 Nov 44 Capt HENRY S TAYLOR RA., was F.O.O in support of D Coy, 2 RUR, during the attack on enemy posns WEST of BLITTERSWIJK. His O.P. received a direct hit and the signaller next to him was wounded. He removed the wounded man to the cellar, and returned to his post despite heavy and accurate shelling.
Throughout the next five days he remained at his post with very little sleep and as a result of his vigilance a considerable number of enemy guns which were shelling the area consistently were plotted and engaged by our arty. During this period he did the signalling duties of the man who had been wounded.
When the Coy came under heavy shell fire he engaged the enemy with such frequent and telling effect that he considerably eased the posn for the in inf and reduced casualties accordingly.
(Countersigned her by B. L. Montgomery FIELD MARSHAL, COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, 21 ARMY GROUP)
His co…ess and complete disregard of personal safety throughout were noteworthy, and there is no doubt but that for his great devotion to duty the coy attack coul not have gone forward as it did.

His will was dated 9th Feb 1989 and appointed as executors:
His wife Elizabeth Rutherford Taylor
His daughter Kitty Rush Starkie
with John Leslie Yorath Saunders as reserve for any vacancy, amended in a codicil to be Joseph Frederick Mills who was to be a third executor unconditionally.
He confuses the reader by giving £1,000 to “each of my daughters” without naming any apart from Kitty who was an executor. So We don’t know who the daughters were. I suspect they were all from a first marriage.
