Ecroyd Smith refers in his Annals of Smiths to families of Backhouse and Aldam and includes on p. 34 the marriage of C Bowly to Katherine Peckover. Earlier generations of the Aldams (or Alhams) are given from pages 16 to 20, so it sounds as if The peckovers and the Aldams may be distantly related. Foster includes Aldam in his Pedigrees of Yorkshire Families, pub 1874. Finally this book has the marriage of Christopher Bowly to Sarah Aldam Backhouse on p. 176.
Sara’s mother was Katherine Aldam Aldam eldest dau; of William (Pease) Aldam of Warmsworth and Sarah Jowitt his wife, see p. 20. Sarah is said to have been born on 14 Nov 1851.
No children found with Sarah Aldam.
