In the Exeter and Plymouth Gazette of 24 November 1909:
COURT-MARTIAL AT DEVONPORT
NAVAL OFFICER REPRIMANDED
Lieut-Commander Stephen Hervey Morris [sic] (of the destroyer Gipsy) was charged at a Devonport Court-martial yesterday with negligently and by default allowing his ship to ground at Chorsewell Point, Wigtonshire, on September 10th.
It was alleged by the prosecution that the accused steered in a fog too close to the shore, that he under-estimated the strength of the tide, and continued his course after the sounding apparatus had broken down. This mishap took place near Arran Island, and an attempt was made to take soundings from the leadsman's chains. The only time bottom was reached was just before the vessel struck on a rock, over which she scraped, sustaining damage to both propellers and her hull.
Accused admitted an error in judgement, but expected that the soulnding machine, which had become fouled, would be soon repaired.
He was found guilty of hazarding the ship by default, but not by neglect, and reprimanded.

I have now got stuck. While I have managed to find a record of his wife'd death in Canada, I can find none of their his death nor anything of their first (if there were more than one) child. Doubtless something will turn up, it usually does.
