Notes for Sir Alexander Seton Of That Ilk
He had a distinguished career of fighting and administration and was rewarded by many grants of land.

He signed the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320.

His wife was probably Christian Cheyne, dau. of the laird of Strloch but no evidence survives except hearsay.

His parentage is not clear but it is asserted that his family had not long been in Scotland and had come from a family of a Sir Christopher Seton who came a family who held Seton Manor in Whitby Strand, Yorks.

Arms Generally notes for Sir Alexander Seton Of That Ilk
At Arbroath, his seal was On a bend three crescents, tinctures uncertain though later (early 1400s) the field was Or and the crescents were Gules, the bend had been dropped and a double tressure flory-counterflory added.
