He is found in the 1881, 1891 and 1901 English censuses but NOT in the 1911 census.  This suggests a death between 1901 and 1911, but none can be found in the Middlesbrough area:

This death index is a possibility for him but why wasn’t he found in the 1911 census if he was alive then?  And the birth year is a bit young compared with his known census entries. At most it can only be a few months before the marriage of his daughter Mary on 10 Jan 1914, at which he was said to be deceased.
