Christine Patti Trew, daughter of Richard Trew of Somerset, married Edward Pakenham, son of the 5th Earl of Longford, on 18 July 1925. They had no children, and on Edward's death, the title was inherited by his younger brother Frank Pakenham, 7th Earl of Longford
Christine Pakenham (nee Trew), Countess of Longford, was born in Somerset, England in 1900. She studied classics at Oxford where she met Edward Pakenham, the elder son of the Earl of Longford, whom she married in 1925. The Longfords worked with Edwards-Mac Liammoir at The Gate Theatre from 1931-1936, then following a disagreement founded Longford Productions which produced 151 plays at The Gate Theatre, Dublin, during their 24 years of existence. The Longford and Edwards/MacLiammoir companies occupied The Gate Theatre for six months of each year, to the detriment of both companies.
Christine Longford was a prolific playwright and also published an autobiographical novel, "Making Conversation" in 1931.
