He was in the 1st Bn of the Royal Welch Fusiliers from 1895 to 1898. He seems to have been in a local Militia in 1894 and in March 95 he joined the regular army as a Lieutenant and may have gone to Bengal for 15 months. He was on half pay in Feb 1898 and resigned his commission on 23 Mar 1898.
