The actual census form shows that they had been married for 15 years and had one child who had died.  Unfortunately there is (a) no 1901 census for them, possibly as they were abroad and (b) the facility to search for cannings by the name of the mother was well is not available for births before 1911.  So no record found for that son; perhaps he was born abroad anyway?
