Notes for Lucy Wightwick
She is known only from the 1851 census when she was a widow living with her daughter Cecilia and Cecilia’s husband, James Haywood.  Her married name was Lord, maiden name unknown.

Her maiden name of Wightwick was found from their marriage on Family Search.

At Marriage she was stated to be of the parish of Bathwick.

In the 1841 census there was a Lucy Lord aged 55 (rounded down from her actual age), of independant means with one servant living in Mount Ploator, Chepstow.  This may well have been her; if so she was on her own so I wonder if her husband had predeceased her?

Various internet reports say (a) she eloped and married against her parent’s wishes, (b) went to Barbadoes with her husband, (c) was locked up by him for a while, (d) managed to escape and return to England, though she seems to have maintained contact at least with her daughter Cecilia.

Cecilia is the only daughter born in England.  Two other daughters, Oceania and Emma Lacey, are recorded on the Wiki page for Samuel Hall Lord; it might be that they were left behind by a pregnant Lucy when she made the escape suggested above.

Her death cannot be uniquely identified but this is in the area where her daughter Cecilia was married:

Name: Lucy Lord
District: Chepstow, Monmouthshire
