In 1871, she was living at 19 North Bailey, Durham City with 3 daus, Lucy, Cecil Margaret and Agnes M, and 4 staff. She did not get listed as “Head” and said her occupation was “Clergyman’s wife”. Either she and hubby had separated or, perhaps, this was to educate the two younger daughters in Durham.
TFPL, Oct 2013: I’ve discovered her parents and her father was archdeacon of Durham diocese and Warden of (a) university. They may have moved from Ryton to Durham as her father was born in 1784 and she may have moved there to help manage the household.
In 1881 she was at 26 Marina, Hastings with three daughters: Frances, Cecil M and Agnes M, all of whom were down as born in Bambrough, Northumberland.
In 1891 she was at No 11 Charles Road, St Leonards, Hastings, Sussex with four daughters: Frances, Lucy, Cecil M, Agnes M. She was a widow and living on own means.
In 1901, She was still at 11 Charles Road and the the same four daughters and five servants, though one was the family nurse now 85 years old.
In 1911 she was 92 and totally blind and while the form was signed by Frances Darnell, it might have been completed by the eldest daughter Frances then aged 64. They were still at Charles Road which they recorded as having 12 rooms, with the same four daughters and three servants.
