In 1901 he was a major and they only had their two youngest daughters with them, Joan and Joyce, plus Ethel M Cracknell, labelled a visitor but almost certainly Ellen’s sister.
In 1901 their son Francis Hugh was at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berks, aged 18 and still born in Egypt c. 1888.
In 1911 Francis Hugh was stationed with the 94th Battery R F in Karachi, India. he was a Lieut and reportedly married. The marriage is not to be found on FreeBMD for England and Wales.
The CWGC reports Francis’ death on 28 Feb 1902, already a major and awarded the MC.
In 1891 he was a captain and they had with them a son Francis H, born in Egypt c.1888 and a dau. Kathleen, born in Surrey c. 1890.
