VCH Lancs, vol 6, pp. 303-313 in the Samlesbury article says Walter had an heir Margaret who married Roger son of Gospatric of Samlesbury. However also in VCH Lancs but in vol 7, pp. 161-165 in the Clifton, Lanc article, they say that Walter filius Osbert de Clifton was succeeded by his son William de Clifton and then by a long succession of Clifton males. So Margaret cannot have been Walter’s heir.
