No death on FreeBMD from 1881 to c. 1935.
In 1901 he was with his father (and stepmother and 16 servants...) and was a Civil Engineer.
Not found in the 1911 census.
There are 5 “Wilfred H Clay” marriages on FreeBMD and I have no idea which is his, save that the one in Burton is attractive (he was born and lived around there):
