Lieutenant (Extra Supernumerary). Dated
' 25th October, 1899.
On 23 Jan 1900 there was this entry on page 431
The Bedfordshire Regiment, Second Lieutenant
Vere Powys Druce, from 1st Volunteer Battalion
the Royal Sussex Regiment, in succession
to Lieutenant H. I. Nicholl, promoted.
On 7th Aug 1908 there was this entry in the London Gazette:
The Bedfordshire Regiment, The undermentioned
Lieutenants to be Captains on augmentation :—
Claude E. Cookson. Dated 14th June, 1908.
Vere P. Druce. Dated 21st June, 1908.
And on 19 Nov 1912, there was this entry on page 8463:
The Bedfordshire Regiment, Captain Vere P.
Druce is placed .temporarily on the Half-pay
List on account of ill-health. Dated 20th
November, 1912.
This last would explain why there is no further mention of him for medals, etc.
