I cannot find his wife and any offspring in the 1911 census, not under either of the forenams of the above marriage. There is a Rose Sketchley in the 1911 census, married for 7 years and living in Birmingham but he husband is a boot repairer. So I think the above marriage record is not his and that he might have been married abroad. If the latter, who is his wife?????
This census entry for Alverstoke might have the answer, as it was clearly from the same barracks:
SKETCHLEY, Phyllis Francis Murray Powys Wife Married 3 years F 25 1886 Bedfordshire, bedford
RG number: RG14 Piece: 5646 Reference: RG14PN5646 RD91 SD1 ED31 SN9999
Registration District: Alverstoke Sub District: Alverstoke EnumerationDistrict: 31
Parish: Alverstoke
Address: Forton Alverstoke Gosport County: Hampshire
The actual return sheet shows her to have had one child, but that child is not listed. But on the next return sheet there is a daughter:
Francis Mary Powys Sketchley, aged 1, born in Stonehouse, Devon
Now to identify his wife and any further children.
His wife’s maiden name was Campbell.
I could still not find their marriage and I could find no more children to Sketchley and Campbell.
