He was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Bath, military division, on 28 Mar 1835, announced in The London Gazette of 31 Mar 1835 and The Times of 1 Apr 1835.

On the 5th April, at 4 Portman Sq, JANE, eldest daughter of Lieut-Gen the Hon Edward Stopford, and widow of LAMBERT BLAIR, Esq.

The raw enumerators sheet shows additionally that the two Blairs and Laura Stopford were all widows and annuitants,

The Blair ladies had each married a Blair and were daughters of an earlier Lt-Gen Edward who was born in 1732, uncle to the Lt-Gen of this record.  See Burke’s Peerage for Courtown.

Laura Stopford I cannot see as the wife of any Stopford in Burke’s Peerage.

J S Herne Massell was J S Heron-Maxwell and probably Jane and Elizabeth’s gt-nephew.
