Adm. pens. (age 17) at ST JOHN'S, July 2, 1790. [Eldest] s. of Christopher, merchant, of New Broad Street, London (and Mary Ann, dau. of Sir John Hopkins, Lord Mayor of London). B. [Jan. 31, 1773] in London. School, Eton. ' Matric. Easter, 1791; B.A. (14th Wrangler) 1794; Chancellor's Classical medal, 1794.  Adm. at the Inner Temple, Nov. 5, 1790. Called to the Bar, Feb. 5, 1797. Sergeant-at-Law, 1818; King's Sergeant, 1827. Attorney-General to Queen Adelaide, 1832-7, and her Attorney-General as Queen Dowager, from 1837-45.
