Notes for Margaret Comyn
She was probably the fifth daughter of Alexander Comyn, earl of Buchan, (Scots Peers, Vol II, p. 256) but McMichael expresses some hesitation on this. However McMichael says she may have brought Cruggleton, Wigtowns and Hermitage lands and Castle to the marriage.
They had two sons, William and John. John was a fighting knight and d. in 1318 at the battle of Dundalk. William was b. c. 1292, was allied with Bruce and signed the Declaration of Arbroath, to which his seal is still attached; but he rebelled against Bruce, was imprisoned and d. bef. 1321
