In 1861 he was a curate of Odd Rode church, Congleton, Cheshire, living as a boarder with a farmer of 25 acres.
In 1881 he and his wife were living in a private hotel (aka boarding house) at 33 Arundel St, London.
Finally in 1891 they were at the Vicarage in East Lockinge, Berks:
