Adopted the additional name of Macredie on his wife inheriting the Macredie estate at Perceton, Ayrshire.
Burkes give no issue for any of his and Rachel’s children; it looks as if their line completely expired.
The 1851 census, quoted by Linda Nordby on the Ayrshiure-L Rootsweb mailing list, gives all his and Rachel’s children with their ages, thus giving their approx birth years and birth order:
